Keeping the Faith in the Age of New Science.
One of my favorite Bible Scripture is “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” Hebrews 13:8 KJV.
I remembered that just after watching a YouTube Video I stumbled upon name ” Elon Musk vs Jeff Bezos: Who will win the Space Race? ” (from the URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YciQqhZ92A). That was a very interesting video about the “Space Race” between the two main persons (Bezos and Musk). But then, even China and Russia were mentioned as still being in the “Race” to send Human Beings/People to the Moon/Space to visit and live there. One lady (that looked middle aged or older) in the video, who was watching a Space Rocket Launch, made a sensible remark that she will not make it to Space (i.e. her Generation). But one of her sons or a grand child may do so in their lifetime.
Many years ago before I received an approval to study full time at the City University where I grew up, I remember an Apostolic person. He made a remark that is makes no sense to go off to do more Advanced Studies at the College Level since Jesus is coming soon. That was almost 30 years ago this year. And Jesus has not returned. But some like myself still believe what John 14:3 KJV says: ” And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
The point is, although Musk, Bezos and others are looking forward to sending real people to live on Mars, for example, or to Colonize Space in general, it does not mean that God is not real and Jesus is not coming back for his faithful and holy saved believers. One Apostolic Minister I heard recently said he does not believe “man” went to the moon and space at all. To him it’s still a big lie. And I know those educated scientific “Atheist” who do not believe in the existence of God or Jesus or the Supernatural, but in reason, skepticism, and empirical evidence instead, will enjoy what Bezos and Musk are doing. They will prefer to see a real Christian backslide from God/Jesus than see him/her live a holy acceptable life to God/Jesus.
Science is good – but to a certain extent. Some do not like, for example, Vaccines. But I remember when I was a little boy growing up, I knew about my school pals dying because of lack of Vaccines such as for Polio, Measles, Chicken Pox, and others. Those of us who were fortunate to have those Vaccines lived on well beyond our school boys/girls days into adulthood, and then old age. So science can be good. And that does not mean God/Jesus could not heal us from those diseases and others. Science and Vaccines worked well enough. We need Science such as the invention of our cell phones, computers, television, radios, cars, trains, planes, and the list goes. So planning and preparing to go to Space to visit or live does not make the Bible Scriptures about God/Jesus, Faith, Salvation, Eternal Life, etc., irrelevant or obsolete. God/Jesus allows all things, and is still in control of all things we do as Humans.
So if we believe in Space, Space Travel or Space Colonization, that is not being “crazy.” But we must also still believe that we will die, face the Judgement of God and know our Eternal Faith. I say Praise Jesus.
