Obedience and Unity

“MARCHING TOGETHER.”
“Do Not Break Stride”
Marching orders, cadence, saluting, and obedience to my commander are not new to me. Having served in the USAF, and being on the military precision drill team taught me many of the military disciplines. These disciplines have carried over into serving Jesus, our Commander and Chief. I learned that this is not a new thing; marching together teaches soldiers obedience and unity. Operational chain of command tell us that, “Understanding the commands is essential for effective communication and operational success. The precision of the drill commands is not just protocol; it embodies the core values of teamwork and leadership. By mastering both basic and advanced commands, military personnel enhance their readiness and strengthen their unit’s effectiveness. The effectiveness of drill commands directly influences a soldier’s ability to follow directions and respond to changing situations, swiftly.”
That could be the reason that a battalion marching in unity across a bridge can literally shake the bridge and compromise its stability. On a prayer walk in London, we learned that there is a bridge that still posts a warning meant for the troops during WWII to break cadence when crossing the bridge. There was a brigade which marched across Broughton Suspension Bridge, as some accounts reported at the time, that the bridge “broke apart throwing many of the soldiers into the water. At that time, the Army sent out new orders: Soldiers crossing a long bridge must ‘break stride,’ or not march in unison for concerns of bridges collapsing.” Disobedience could destroy the mission.
Can you hear the command pressing in on our schedules and plans? Push; pray until something happens. Obedience to our Commander must be swift. Battalion commanders must ensure their troops are ready, prepared, and in position to move when the marching orders are given. When the orders are given, no excuses, nothing can stop the mission. No, soldiers cannot doubt or question their commanders. They must trust and obey, no matter what the challenges are, victory is essential! Check your training manual for clear instructions on disciplines and commands that teach us how to be a good soldier. (See II Timothy 2:3-4.)
We must not break stride, rather we must keep cadence in prayer. Our mission: Keep the incense burning (the fire) in the Holy Place before the throne room, deliberate and focused, as the priests were in the Tabernacle. Aaron’s orders were to burn incense on the altar each morning, perpetually, throughout all generations (Exodus 30:7-8).
II Chronicles 18:18 reads, “Again he (Micaiah) said, therefore hear the word of the Lord; I saw the Lord sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left” (at attention?). We must enter the throne room, in the presence of our Commander, for our daily or long-term marching orders and carry them out. Much like Joshua received his orders to march around Jericho six times with his soldiers, and then on the seventh time, they were to shout. God assured them the walls would fall flat (Joshua 6:2-5). And they marched into Jericho over those fallen walls. And so, we march boldly into the throne room, as God has commanded us, humbly before Him, our Commander, asking for our marching orders for 2025, as His plan, (as has been revealed) is to accelerate and multiply to do a quick work. One order stands out clearly, we must be ready and willing to do this together, in precision and unison. Push past the flesh and any hindrances, and pray until something happens, together!
Pray in Jesus Name:
Lord, forgive us for the lack of discipline and obedience to Your Word that has led to the collapse of our discipline and focus. Forgive us Lord for our lack of trust, respect, and understanding for our leaders and one another.
Thank you, Lord, that you have counted us worthy to report into your throne room boldly and humbly before You, our Commander.
Deliver us Lord, from the distractions of life that hinder our ability to carry out Your orders. Help us oh Lord, to be focused and disciplined, attentive to your directions.
Lord, bless and strengthen our leaders. Remind them that we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). Give them the abundant grace to lead in these last days.
Raise effective, willing, and confident in You leaders. Impart wisdom, revelation, understanding, and trust to obey Your Word no matter what. Help us to reach this world, while there is still time.
Oh God, we ask, help us arise, pray and work together, to obey you swiftly, and keep in step, perfect cadence with You, as we hear your voice say, “This is the way you should go (march), whether to the right or the left” (Isaiah 30:21). I Chronicles 14:15, says “And it shall be, when thou shalt hear the sound of going (marching) in the tops of the mulberry trees, then thou shalt go (march) out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee (marched) to smite the host of the Philistines.”
